Then, with 5C we can either install a 5c chuck which eats up a few more inches on the X-axis, or go with a 5c collet closer system which may take up less room.

Lathemaster and other importers of Chinese tooling sell similar models with a “tru-set” or “true-setting” arrangement to achieve really small TIR of approx. 0.0002″ or 0.0004″ (pretty good!) for anywhere between $150 to $300. Of course, they all have their methods of mounting whether threaded adapters, plain-back direct mount.
